Tommie Cody

30 Oct 1959 - 14 Feb 2004

Tommie went to be with Jesus on Valentine's Day, 14 Feb. 2004, following a series of medical problems including cancer, kidney failure and finally, heart problems which resulted in brain damage. She suffered a lot in the last few months of her life, but is rejoicing in heaven today.  Those of us who knew her will miss her.

The following is a message from Marilyn Hamilton, long-time friend of Tommie:

REMEMBERING TOMMIE
I know that many were shocked and saddened by the death of Tommie Cody.  It was approximately one month between the time the LDM family was made aware of her illness on the E-Bulletin and her passing on February 14, and many of you didn't have a chance to really respond.  I know that this is a particularly difficult and sad time for her entire family as well.

Though I am very grateful to the Lord that I was able to see Tommie prior to her death, I was not able to attend her wake or funeral due to the timeframe - but had desired greatly to be there to support her family and to let them know how precious Tommie was to me and how her being there at LDM made a tremendous impact in my life.  I'm sure many of you feel the same way and would have wanted to respond in some way if you had known about her illness sooner.

When I saw Tommie in January, the last thing that we did together was worship the Lord.  We were singing along to praise music that she had in her room.  At one point Tommie raised her arms - I thought she wanted something - but she began to move them in a dancing motion.  She couldn't dance before the Lord with her feet, but decided to do so with her arms.  I jokingly scolded her as I was concerned about her reopening the huge incision that went down her chest.  At the time I didn't realize that we were participating in a dress rehearsal for what Tommie is doing right now.

Thank you LDM family.  Marilyn Hamilton (mahtwin@yahoo.com)
