After having served for ten years at LDM, I moved to Lindale and began working on my own at the end of 1993. Besides continuing to work on telephone systems for some the area ministries, I began doing some electronics repair work. My one-man business, Heddins Electronics, started out in a make-shift workshop in the second bedroom of my apartment, but after a couple of years I realized that repairing VCRs and stereos wasn't being very profitable (with most consumer electronics goods being so cheap and disposible, it's often not cost-effective to have them repaired). So when a door opened up for me to begin doing more electrical wiring I went for it. I've been doing wiring in local residential construction projects since January of 1997, as well as occasional phone wiring. I've enjoyed the freedoms of being self-employed, and I've seen God open doors and provide in many ways.
I've been very involved at Community Christian Fellowship in Garden Valley ever since leaving LDM. I had attended CCF off and on ever since I moved to this area in 1983, but after leaving LDM I've really been able to plug in, being involved in men's fellowship meetings, helping to lead home "Life Groups," serving on our missions committee, as well as doing cassette tape duplication in the church bookstore, website maintenance, sending out "E-Bulletins" once or twice a week to our members, etc. For several years I was also active as a volunteer chaplain at a nearby maximum security prison. On a few occasions I've also taken part in short-term foreign missions outreaches. In addition to there still being lots of X-LDMers attending CCF, I've developed some precious relationships with people there, so this is home. Besides, most of my family live in this area too, all except for one brother still living in Louisiana.
One thing I really enjoy doing is travelling to different parts of the country & the world, visiting X-LDMers and friends I got to know while serving on the Anastasis (summers of 92 & 93). Being self-employed and single makes it easier for me to get up and go.

Etobicoke (Toronto), Ontario, Canada
For the past fourteen years I have been employed by the provincial electric utility
company here in Ontario. I have had a number of different job functions, because of
changes in the company. Ten years ago I began part-time studies in art & design
at a college in Toronto. Last spring (99) I graduated from the "four-year"
program in Material Art & Design (MAD), specializing in jewellery design. I also have
had fingers in a number of other "creative pies." There are just so many
materials to work with, so little time... The past year has been one of waiting, praying,
reading, writing, etc. while deciding "where do I go from here?"
- favourite books - "A Tale of Three Kings" by Gene Edwards (one of the most
influential books I have ever read)
-"Subversive Spirituality," "Living the Message," "Under the
Unpredictable Plant" all by Eugene H. Peterson.
- "God in the Dark" by Luci Shaw.
- any "Calvin & Hobbes" collection.
- Psalms, John (esp. ch.15), Revelation, Hebrews,...
- poetry - anything by Luci Shaw, Anne Michaels, Pablo Neruda, Steven Heighton, Stewart
Henderson.
- favourite music - (way too many to list)
- Rich Mullins - "Songs," "The Jesus Album"
- Bruce Cockburn - any esp. "The Charity of Night"
- Vineyard - Hungry - "Falling on my Knees"
